Choosing the resolution
A PDF describes pages in inches, not pixels, so the resolution decides how many pixels each inch of the page becomes:

Higher resolutions make sharper pictures and larger files. Very large pages are drawn at the largest size your browser can handle, and the row says when a page was limited.
JPG, PNG or WebP
- JPG keeps files small and suits pages with photos. Text stays readable at the default quality; the Quality slider trades size for sharpness.
- PNG is lossless, so text, lines and charts stay perfectly crisp. The files are larger.
- WebP makes smaller files than JPG at the same quality and works in every current browser, though some older apps and upload forms don't accept it.
Blank areas of the page stay white in every format, as on paper.
Pages, names and the ZIP
Each page gets its own row with a preview, its pixel size and its own Download button. The files are numbered with leading zeros when a PDF has ten pages or more, so they sort in page order. The ZIP button under the list, such as Download 12 as ZIP for a 12-page PDF, saves every page in one file; remove the pages you don't need from the list first. A PDF with more than 200 pages adds its first 200.
Resize, crop or shrink the pages
The pages work like any other picture here. Under Crop, resize and file size, set a width in pixels for a social post or a slide, crop the pages to a square, or aim for a maximum file size in KB for an upload form. For the opposite direction, JPG to PDF makes one PDF from several pictures.
What converts
Text, vector drawings and images are drawn as they appear when printed, including fonts the PDF doesn't carry, which are replaced with standard ones. Form fields show their current values. Anything that needs a program to run, such as JavaScript in a PDF, is ignored, and a PDF protected with a password to open can't be read.
